  • 1865 Jun. 1: Minnesota State Census for Vasa Twp., Goodhue County, taken by Nels Ofelt: Family 94 consists of Pehr Olson (M), Ola Olson (M), Erik Olson (M), Anna Olson (F), John Olson (M), Cari Peterson (F). Family 95 consists of Pehr Olson (M), Sissa Olson (F), Cari Olson (F), Martin Olson (M). Family 96 consists of Gustaf Peterson (M).
  • 1869: Karin Ericson Olson died in Goodhue Co., MN. Her name does not appear in the 1870 Mortality Index for the Federal Census, which means that she must have died between 1 January 1869 and 30 June 1869. After putting together all of the pieces, it appears that following the death of his mother, Frank Olson was raised by his sister, Anna Olson. On 10 Apr 1875, Anna Olson married John Miller and her brother began using the surname of his sister's husband, becoming Frank Miller.
  • 1870 Feb. 7: Olof Olson married Kristine Svenson probably in Cannon Falls (Goodhue), Minnesota.
  • 1870 Aug. 12: The Peter Olson family was enumerated in the 1870 Federal Census in Vasa Twp. (Goodhue), Minnesota, by Frank Slocum (dwelling 122/family 138). The family consisted of Peter (age 42, farmer, $3500 total worth, $800 property worth, b. in Sweden), Anna (age 17, keeping house, b. in Sweden), Erick (age 20, farm laborer, b. in Sweden), Jonas (age 12, at home and attending school, b. in Sweden), Frank (age 6, at home, b. in Minnesota), Ole (age 22, farmer, b. in Sweden) and Christine (age 20, b. in Sweden). The census also indicates that Ole and Christine were married in February of the census year. Since Frank Olson was born in Minnesota, Peter's wife, Karin, must have come to the United States and must have been living in 1862. Her absence in 1870 suggests that she might have died prior to the taking of this census.
  • 1871 Jun. 5: Peter Olson purchased land in S 21, T 112N, R 16W, Vasa Township (Goodhue), MN for $900.00.

  • 1880: The John Miller family was enumerated in Goodhue Co., MN (National Archives Film T9-0620 page 221D). The family consisted of John, Anna Olson Miller, two daughters and two sons. It appears that Peter Olson was living in the next house with a widow:

  • 1900 Jun.: John Olson was enumerated in the Federal Census near Eric Olson's family. The enumeration indicates that John's wife was Carolina U. (b. 9/1854 in Sweden, immigrated in 1872), his daughters were: Lily O. (b. 9/1879 in NE), Hattie M. (b. 5/1885 in NE), Effie C. (b. 4/1897 in NE), and Louisa C. • 1909 Dec. 7: Peter Olson died from "senility with arteriosclerosis" in Holdrege (Phelps), NE. Death certificate is on file with Nebraska Bureau of Vital Statistics. (Register number 299)

Olson is a resident of Holdrege. The deceased had lived with his son "Ole" in this city for 18 years. During the past two years he has been confined to his bed most of the time, old age having gradually undermined his constitution.
  • 1910 Aug. 8: Decree of final estate settlement for the estate of Peter Olson was filed in the County Court of Phelps County, Nebraska, (Record book H, p. 489). Heirs listed are: O.P.
