Paul-Emile Sarradin wrote an extensive work that details his family history and his own life. According to Paul-Emile:
Emile's grandfather was Martin Sarradin, son of Pierre Sarradin (or Sarrazin) and Françoise Pelay. Martin was baptized on December 10, 1718 in Vendôme, France. Martin married Jeanne Leroy (of Montoire, France). Martin and Jeanne had four children: (1) Jean-Baptiste Martin Sarradin (b. 1748|7|25); (2) Rene Paul Sarradin (b. 1749|7|25), who died very young; (3) Pierre Sarradin (b. 1752|3|16, premature); and (4) Marguerite Marie-Anne Elisabath Sarradin (b. 1754|1|27 in Bazoche-Gouet, France).
Rene Paul's mother died when Rene Paul was young, and his father sent 16-year-old Rene Paul to apprentice in Blois to become grocer. Rene Paul married Martha Martin, whose family lived in Pont-aux-Moines. Martha was born in Saint-Jean-De-Bray, and had 9 siblings.
